Goliath Technologies Selected by Drake University to Proactively Troubleshoot Citrix Windows & Mac EUE Performance Issues in their XenApp / XenDesktop 7.6 Environment 

Goliath Technologies’ suite of IT performance monitoring products was chosen by Drake University to ensure a positive end user experience for students accessing Windows applications delivered through Citrix XenApp / XenDesktop 7.6.

Philadelphia, PA–January 14, 2016– Goliath Technologies was selected by Drake University—a 134 year old institution based in Des Moines, Iowa—to proactively ensure Drake’s College of Business students can access Windows applications on Mac OS devices delivered through Citrix XenApp / XenDesktop 7.6.

“The initial reasons Drake selected Goliath’s technology for Citrix Monitoring were the rare combination of purpose-built functionality for Citrix XenApp 7.6 monitoring and monitoring the supporting virtual infrastructure,” said Chris Mielke, Infrastructure & Security Services Lead at Drake University.

Recently, the Infrastructure Team at Drake University was working to solve Citrix performance and Citrix end user experience issues with Microsoft Windows on Mac OS. Specifically, the students at Drake’s College of Business were failing to access Microsoft Excel as they attempted to use the application through their Mac device.

At this point Drake’s Systems Integrator, Choice Solutions, introduced the Infrastructure Team to Goliath Performance Monitor for XenApp 7.6 and the supporting vSphere virtual infrastructure to leverage the technology’s ability to identify the specific failure point in order to remediate the root cause.

“Once we deployed Goliath for Citrix XenApp Monitoring, we were able to use the Citrix monitoring software to isolate server resources as the root cause of the performance issues that were effecting our students,” said Chris Mielke.    

When the failure point was identified, the Infrastructure Team resolved the issue by quickly by adding server capacity. Drake’s team didn’t stop with resolving the Windows related end user experience issue. They also used Goliath Performance Monitor to resolve a storage latency issue.

After finding success with Goliath’s Citrix XenApp Monitor reporting functionality, the Infrastructure Team began using the Goliath Logon Simulator and Goliath for NetScaler to proactively get ahead of any logon and end user issues in Drake’s XenApp / XenDesktop 7.6 environment.

Chris continued, “The logon data captured by Goliath’s Logon Simulator is very good because of the deep visibility gained as a result of testing the entire Citrix delivery infrastructure, including the NetScaler”.
